About

One question, answered properly.

Employer-review sites answer a dozen questions vaguely. This one tries to answer a single question well: why do people leave?

Why the existing sites don’t answer it

A five-star rating and a paragraph of prose tell you how somebody felt. They do not tell you whether people leave a company because they cannot get promoted, because the on-call rota is unsustainable, or because the office mandate changed after they moved cities. Those are different problems with different implications for you, and they are invisible in a score.

So we ask structured questions instead. One main reason, up to three others, and — the part nobody else collects — what might have made you stay.

Why that last question matters most

“Why did you leave” describes a past. “What would have kept you” describes a decision the employer could still make differently. Over enough answers it becomes the most actionable thing on the site, and it is the reason we ask it before we ask you to write anything.

Where we are starting

IT companies, in Europe first — product companies and the services firms and consultancies that employ an enormous number of engineers and are almost never written about usefully. Narrow on purpose: a hundred stories about one industry is a dataset, while a hundred spread across every employer on earth is noise.

What we will not become

There is no version of this site where an employer pays to remove criticism, or where we sell the identities of the people who told us something. Both are technically impossible here rather than merely against policy: we do not collect identities, so we have none to sell.

We are also not trying to be a place where people are angry at their employers. Plenty of people leave good jobs for good reasons, and a site that only collects grievances produces a dataset nobody should believe.

If you have left an IT company

It takes about a minute, there is no account, and the written part is optional. You will see exactly what we publish before you submit it.
