Terms of use

Draft. Written to describe how this site actually operates. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and is not a complete set of terms.

What this site is

WhyDidILeave publishes first-hand accounts, submitted anonymously, of why people left IT companies, together with counts of the structured answers they gave.

What it is not

It is not a survey, a sample, or a measurement of any company. It shows the people who chose to tell us, which is a self-selected group. A page with forty stories is forty accounts and a tally — not a finding about the employer.

We do not verify that submitters worked where they say, and we do not verify the events they describe. Do not use this site as the sole basis for a decision that matters to you.

If you submit

By submitting you grant us permission to publish your answers, in the widened form described in how it works, and to remove parts of your written story before publishing it.

We may reject a submission for any reason, and rejections cannot be appealed because submissions are anonymous.

If you read

Do not attempt to identify the author of a story, or to combine what is published here with other sources to do so. Do not scrape the site. Do not republish stories in a way that suggests they are verified facts about named people.

Removal

Every story carries a Report link, which reaches a person. If a story identifies someone, reveals confidential information, or is untrue, that is the fastest route to having it examined. For anything else, contact legal@whydidileave.com.

No company can pay to have a legitimate story removed. There is no such mechanism, and adding one would defeat the point of the site.

No warranty

The site is provided as it is, without guarantees of accuracy, availability or fitness for any purpose.
